What is the Pitha Competition?

The Pitha Competition is a cultural celebration where families and participants prepare traditional Odia pitha—from classics like Poda Pitha, Manda, Kakara, Arisa, Chakuli, to regional and family-recipe variations. It is more than judging taste—it’s about storytelling, tradition, technique, and cultural pride, bringing our community together through the food that defines Odisha’s festivals and family life.

Why do we do it?

We do this competition to keep Odia culture alive, especially for children growing up far from Odisha.
    •    Because pitha is parampara—it teaches patience, skill, and family bonding.
    •    Because every pitha carries a memory and a story—of Maa, Aai, Parab, and Village.
    •    Because culture doesn’t survive only in books—it survives when we cook it, share it, and pass it forward.
    •    Because when our next generation learns pitha, they also learn who we are.

Why should people support this?

Supporting this competition means supporting identity, heritage, and community continuity.
    •    You help create a platform where Odia families participate proudly, not quietly.
    •    You help children and youth learn culture with joy, not as an obligation.
    •    You help preserve authentic recipes, techniques, and stories that can disappear in one generation.
    •    You strengthen community unity—because culture grows when people come together.

Your support is not “just sponsorship.”
It is a commitment to preserve Odisha’s soul—food, language, tradition, and values.
